The Arc Across the Clyde | Glasgow, Scotland
The Arc Across the Clyde | Glasgow, Scotland
This image captures one of Glasgow’s most recognisable modern landmarks, the Clyde Arc, gracefully spanning the River Clyde beneath a dramatic Scottish sky. Known affectionately as the “Squinty Bridge”, its sweeping curve provides a striking contrast to the surrounding waterfront architecture, symbolising the city’s transformation from an industrial powerhouse to a vibrant modern destination.
In processing this photograph, I chose a warm, sepia-inspired palette that softens the contemporary lines of the bridge while enhancing the atmosphere of the riverside setting. The subtle tones and textured sky create a timeless quality, blending Glasgow’s modern identity with a sense of heritage and place.
The composition balances architecture, water, and light, drawing the eye along the curve of the bridge and across the Clyde. It is a celebration of Glasgow’s evolving skyline and the enduring connection between the city and its river.
Each image is carefully refined in post-production with restraint — shaping tonal balance, colour harmony, and texture to preserve the natural atmosphere of the scene. The intention is never to exaggerate, but to distil — allowing the character and spirit of place to emerge with clarity and depth.
