The story behind the photograph

Framed by Princes Street Gardens, Ross Fountain stands beneath the commanding presence of Edinburgh Castle. Flowing water, intricate cast iron and weathered stone bring artistry and history together in one scene.

In processing this image, I used soft highlights and muted tones to preserve the city’s timeless atmosphere. The fountain’s rich verdigris textures contrast with the castle and cliffside, capturing Edinburgh’s balance of majesty and intimacy.
