There is a profound stillness to Glencoe when the lone white cottage stands beneath the towering presence of Buachaille Etive Mòr. This piece captures the quiet isolation and rugged beauty that define one of Scotland’s most iconic landscapes — where weathered stone, sweeping moorland, and ancient mountains create a scene that feels untouched by time.

In processing this image, I leaned into a warm, painterly aesthetic with muted sepia tones and softened contrast to enhance the atmospheric mood of the glen. By emphasising the textures of the cottage walls against the vast mountain backdrop and surrounding grasses, I wanted to evoke a sense of solitude, resilience, and connection to the Highland landscape. The soft mist and subdued light create a dreamlike quality, allowing the scene to feel both intimate and immense at once.

Each image is carefully refined in post-production with restraint — shaping tonal balance, colour harmony, and texture to preserve the natural atmosphere of the scene. The intention is never to exaggerate, but to distil — allowing the landscape and spirit of place to emerge with clarity and depth.
