The story behind the photograph

Princes Street Gardens offers a moment of calm beneath the rugged silhouette of Edinburgh Castle. The stately façade of the National Galleries anchors the scene, bringing together the city’s historic architecture and the everyday life of its gardens.

In processing this image, I used warm highlights and muted contrast to preserve the gentle atmosphere of an Edinburgh afternoon. Carefully refined stone textures, foliage and sky bring out the harmony between urban history and green space.
