The story behind the photograph

Ross Fountain stands in Princes Street Gardens beneath Edinburgh Castle, high above on Castle Rock. Its intricate Victorian design contrasts with weathered stone and rugged volcanic rock, bringing together artistry and the city’s enduring history.

In processing this image, I used warm sepia undertones and softened contrast to create a reflective, painterly mood. Verdigris details, flowing water and muted skies preserve the scene’s quiet atmosphere while the fortress remains a commanding presence above.
