There is a quiet grandeur to Glasgow’s People’s Palace, where Victorian ambition, civic pride, and the story of the city come together beneath a striking glass dome. Standing at the heart of Glasgow Green, this architectural landmark has served as a celebration of the people of Glasgow since its opening in 1898, preserving the social history of one of Scotland’s most influential cities.

In processing this image, I leaned into a warm, painterly aesthetic with rich amber tones and softened contrast to enhance the character of the red sandstone façade. By emphasising the intricate architectural details, grand columns, and distinctive dome against the dramatic sky, I wanted to evoke a sense of permanence and civic pride. The warm tones complement the building’s Victorian craftsmanship, allowing its elegance and historic significance to take centre stage.

More than a museum, the People’s Palace represents Glasgow’s story — its communities, industry, resilience, and culture. Combined with the adjoining Winter Gardens, it remains one of the city’s most cherished landmarks and a symbol of Glasgow’s enduring spirit.
