There is a quiet grandeur to Scotland’s west coast where the town of Gourock meets the expansive waters of the Firth of Clyde. In processing this image, I leaned into a warm, painterly aesthetic with golden highlights and softened contrast to enhance the atmosphere of a winter afternoon on the Clyde. By emphasising the layered textures of the landscape — from the waterfront streets and harbour structures to the distant mountain ridges — I wanted to create a sense of depth and connection between town, sea, and sky. The muted tones and reflective waters lend a feeling of calm, while the dramatic cloud formations remind us of the ever-changing nature of Scotland’s western shores.
